MarketingPlatform: Create a Text Field

If you cannot find the field you need among our standard fields, you can always create your own. Contact fields are created under "Contact Fields" - "Add Field." Regardless of the type of contact field you are going to use, you must always start by naming the field and selecting which contact list the field should be used on.

How to create a text field By using a text field, you get a field where you can enter the value yourself. Often, information that varies greatly from contact to contact is created as a text field. For example, first name, company name, comments, or similar. When you have chosen to create a text field, you will get a box a little further down the page called "Values for new Contact Field: Text Field." Here you can create rules for your text field if you go under the "Advanced" tab. You can determine:

• if the field can be used as a link, for example when inserted into a campaign

• what value should be in the field if used in a form. For example, "Enter your first name"

• how long the field should be design-wise when used in a form

• maximum number of characters for the value entered. For example, there are few first names that exceed 20 characters.

• minimum number of characters that can be entered. Again, there are few with X as a first name.
