MarketingPlatform: Create a Text Field

If you can't find the field you need among our standard fields, you can create your own at any time. You create contact fields under "Contact Fields" – "Add Field." Regardless of which type of contact field you plan to use, you must always start by naming the field and selecting which contact list the field should be used on.

How to create a text field By using a text field you get a field where you can type in the value yourself. Often, information that varies a lot from contact to contact is created as a text field. For example first name, company name, comments or similar. When you have chosen that you want to create a text field, you will see a box a little further down on the page titled "Values for new Contact Field: Text Field." Here you can set rules for your text field if you go under the "Advanced" tab. You can determine:

• Whether the field can be used as a link, for example when embedding in a campaign

• Which value should appear in the field if it is used in a form. For example “Enter your first name”

• How long the field should be design-wise when used in a form

• Maximum number of characters for the value entered. For example there are few first names that exceed 20 characters.

• Minimum number of characters that can be entered. Again, there are few who have X as a first name.
