MarketingPlatform: Create a Data Field
If you want to learn more about your contacts, such as what they want to read about or what they are interested in, you can create a data field. For example, you may want to know whether your contacts drink red, white, or rosé wine. Whether they want to read about politics, science, or cooking.
A data field can be used in many ways in MarketingPlatform. Here we explain how you create the field, and how you use it in, for example, "Modify Forms".
Step 1 | Create the data field
Go to "Data Fields" – "Add Fields".
Name the field, and define which list the field should be used on.
On the right side you must decide which field type you want to use. There are many options, but the most common are:
Dropdown: The dropdown menu allows the contact to choose one value from the options.
Checkboxes: Here contacts can choose multiple values.
Radio buttons: Radio buttons are often used for yes/no questions. The contact can only choose one value. For an interest field, it is often best to use a checkbox. This gives the contact the possibility to choose multiple values.
After you have defined which type of field you want to use, further down on the page you can enter the values, or answer options, that your contacts can choose from.
