MarketingPlatform: Create an Interest Field

Edited

If you would like to know more about your contacts, such as what they want to read about or what they are interested in, you can create what we will call an interest field here. You may want to know if your contacts drink red, white, or rosé wine. Whether they want to read about politics, science, or cooking. An interest field can be used in many ways in MarketingPlatform. Here we explain how to create the field. How to use it in, for example, "Modify Forms", along with "Update Contact Fields" or in triggers, you can read about in other articles.

Create your interest field When you are going to create your interest field, go to the "Contact Fields" menu - "Add Contact Field". You name the field as interest, category, profile, or whatever fits into your setup. Then you define which list the field should be used on.

On the right side, you must decide which field type you want to use. In this case, there are three possibilities:

Dropdown: The dropdown menu gives the contact the opportunity to choose one value among the options. Checkboxes: Here contacts can choose multiple values. Radio buttons: Radio buttons are often used for yes/no questions. The contact can only choose one value. For an interest field, it is often best to use checkboxes. It allows the contact to choose multiple values.

Once you have defined which type of field you want to use, you can enter the values, or response options, that your contacts should choose from further down the page.
